Jack Jones, a 25-year-old cornerback for the New England Patriots, has been arrested for attempting to bring two loaded guns on a flight at Boston’s Logan Airport headed to Los Angeles. The charges against him include unlawful possession of a firearm, carrying a loaded firearm, possession of a large-capacity feeding device, and possession of ammunition without a firearm identification card. Jones plea of not guilty was delivered during his arraignment on Tuesday at East Boston Municipal Court, where he posted a bail of $30,000. He has a probable cause hearing scheduled for Aug. 18 and could be sentenced to over 30 years in prison if found guilty and sentenced consecutively, according to a Suffolk County District Attorney spokesman.

The Patriots are reportedly incensed about Jones’ arrest, as he is an important member of the team with a fourth-round pick in the 2022 draft. He played 13 games last season and made two interceptions. Nevertheless, Jones’ future with the Patriots is looking very uncertain now.

The Athletic’s Jeff Howe spoke of the situation on “Toucher and Rich” Tuesday morning:

“Putting himself in a position like this is at any time of year, but really like after breaking minicamp and all that stuff, it’s just… they’re livid,”

Moreover, individuals familiar with such matters say that Jones’ conduct is not new, and that he previously served a team-based suspension at the end of his rookie season because he allegedly missed rehab sessions and publicly spoke ill of head coach Bill Belichick.

Jones pleaded guilty and finally commented that he did not have any intention of taking guns to the airport.
