In New Mexico, a police officer named Anthony Ferguson, 41, lost his life following a gun battle with a suspect named Dominic De La O, 26. The incident began when De La O was seen driving without headlights or taillights around 2:20 a.m. on Saturday, prompting the police to attempt a traffic stop. However, De La O refused to stop and eventually crashed his car into a light pole. He then fled on foot and shot Officer Ferguson in the face with a sawed-off shotgun during the ensuing chase. After being treated for a leg injury at a hospital, De La O was arrested and is now in Otero County jail. He faces several charges, including attempted first-degree murder and aggravated battery on a police officer with a deadly weapon.

The full list of charges against De LA O can be seen below:

  1. Attempt to Commit 1st-Degree Murder
  2. Aggravated Battery of a Police Officer with a Deadly Weapon
