A man was arrested during a routine traffic stop in Picayune, Mississippi last week, according to local authorities. At 12:30 p.m. on Thursday, officers from the Picayune Police Department’s neighborhood enhancement squad halted a car on East Canal Street. Devin P. Mitchell, the passenger in the car, reportedly hid a handgun in a quesadilla inside a Taco Bell bag during the stop.

According to Fox, the officers witnessed Mitchell stuffing the weapon into a fast-food bag as they approached his car, which prompted them to inspect the vehicle. Upon searching the car, the officers discovered the firearm inside the fast food bag, as well as methamphetamine, liquid heroin, and drug paraphernalia in amounts intended for distribution, according to the news outlet.

Mitchell was taken into custody and charged with several offenses, including possession of a controlled substance with the intent to distribute while in possession of a firearm, tampering with physical evidence, possession of a weapon by a felon, and possession of paraphernalia. The driver, Olivia Neff, was given a citation for ignoring a traffic signal and then released at the scene.

This incident serves as a reminder of the dangers associated with traffic stops and the need for drivers and passengers to comply with law enforcement officials. Moreover, it highlights the creative ways in which individuals attempt to conceal illegal items during interactions with the police. Law enforcement officials must remain vigilant and alert to these attempts in order to protect the public and maintain law and order.
