A Philadelphia school teacher is under fire for letting a student make a wooden gun in shop class.

The Philadelphia school district is launching an all-out investigation into a teacher after a parent complained about their child bringing home a wooden gun from school that child had made in shop class. This nothing-burger school project may end up costing this teacher his job as the parents of the student are demanding answers and accountability.

The father of the child is outraged that the shop teacher let the young boy make the wooden gun in class, this father does not want his children playing with toy guns no matter how toy-like they are. The school district, like many others, has a blanket ban on firearms, weapons, even those firearms and weapons that are simulated, replica, toy, or look-alikes.

This teacher may have violated school policy in letting the student make this toy gun and the school’s investigation into him may cost him his job.

One parent told CBS Local PhiladelphiaWhy would a teacher help make a gun? It’s stupid.” Another told the outlet “A teacher let him do it in school. It’s not right, it’s not right, it’s not right.

To be totally clear, this is a nothing burger story… at least it should be.

If you went back in time 50 years and showed this story to any parent they would look at you with shock and awe, they might also laugh you out of the room. This story shows us just how bad things have gotten. 50 years isn’t that long ago, don’t let them make you think it is.
