Double-Barrel Shotgun

Photo from the Rogers Fund, 1955 at the MET Museum

The Double Barrel shotgun is not something that is often brought up when discussing guns from the west, but without this firearm there would be no west. The Double Barrel shotgun was the firearm of choice for the early pioneers who gave up everything to go out west. These early pioneers were penniless and had to rely on these very basic and often unbranded firearms to survive. Dozens of companies produced these firearms with varying degrees of quality and these pioneers were not too picky about which they would pick up.
