Stay in school. Don’t play with guns. Don’t rob people. Work for what you want,”  read the words of a would-be victim who shot a teenager that had just leveled a gun at him.

Another carjacking ended with the criminal getting shot by an armed citizen the other day in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

A teenage suspect approached a man in his car and leveled a gun at him, the man in the car responded by drawing his own firearm and shooting the suspect 5 times.

I saw the gun and I thought he was going to shoot me and take the car, so I retaliated as fast as I could. And just to see another day, I had to shoot the guy,” the would-be victim told ABC 6.

He continued saying “I was shaken up at first and the police calmed me down a lot and they made me feel real comfortable.

Police revealed that the carjacking suspect showed up at the hospital not long after the interaction and confessed to being at the scene of the shooting. Police also revealed that the victim was a holder of a valid concealed carry permit.

This situation had an excellent resolution, the would-be victim is just that, a would-be victim, and the carjacker will be sitting in a hospital until the police take him into custody. Unfortunately, this was not the only carjacking in the city that night and these other carjackings had very poor outcomes.

One man was approached in a parking garage by a gang of 4 men who had guns, he flashed his gun in an effort to resolve the conflict. While this display scared off some of the criminals one of them fired at him and he was injured although thankfully the round only hit his foot.

Another carjacking in the city ended with the criminals getting away with the car only to crash it further down the road.

Crime is on the rise in America and while nothing is guaranteed you do play a major role in your own safety. You don’t get an outright choice as to whether or not you will be a victim or not, but you sure can steer the odds in your favor.
