Beta O’Rourke is back… This is anything but good news for gun owners in Texas unless of course, you are running against him.

Beto O’Rourke is back in Texas politics and will be running for Governor. O’Rourke’s previous foray in politics involved a run for Senate against Senator Ted Cruz, where he suffered a humiliating defeat, and a bid for the 2020 Democratic Presidential nomination, where he suffered a humiliating defeat.

Beto O’Rourke announced his intention to run for the Democratic gubernatorial nomination in Texas this past Monday. In his announcement, O’Rourke doubled down on his previous promises to confiscate the “assault weapons” that are in the hands of everyday Americans.

For those who do not recall, O’Rourke cemented a legacy of gun-grabbing while making previous runs for different offices. O’Rourke’s most prominent agenda item as a candidate, and potential elected official, is gun control. During one of the Democratic primary debates O’Rourke said “hell yes, we’re going to take your AR-15, your AK-47.”

O’Rourke followed up on this comment in an interview with the media where he clarified that he not only supported outlawing the sale of AR-15s but the confiscation of those rifles currently in circulation. “If someone does not turn in an AR-15, or an AK-47, one of these weapons of war, or brings it out in public and brandishes it in an attempt to intimidate—as we saw in Kent State recently—then that weapon will be taken from them,” O’Rourke told CNN’s Anderson Cooper. O’Rourke would also threaten gun owners in this interview by saying “if they persist, there will be other consequences from law enforcement.”

On an unrelated note, Beto O’Rourke’s real name isn’t Beto, his name is Robert O’Rourke and he picked up Beto as a nickname from one of his childhood nannies.

Current Texas Governor, Greg Abbott, should not have a lot to worry about in a race against Beto O’Rourke. A political spokesperson for Abbott, Mark Miner, said in a statement that “the last thing Texans need is President Biden’s radical liberal agenda coming to Texas under the guise of Beto O’Rourke.”

Beto O’Rourke is a gun grabber through and through, there are no redeeming qualities about his proposals for American gun owners. O’Rourke was completely demolished in the state of Texas when he ran against Ted Cruz for his Senate seat, the betting odds favor incumbent Greg Abbott by a significant margin.
