New York Governor Andrew Cuomo has declared a “gun violence disaster emergency” and signed new legislation that will allow the localities to bring civil liability lawsuits against firearm manufacturers, importers, marketers, and dealers.

Currently, the arms industry is protected from frivolous lawsuits by the PLCAA (Protection of Lawful Commerce in Arms Act). The act made it impossible to sue gun manufacturers for criminal use of their products. This act has not made it impossible to sue manufacturers altogether though, if a manufacturer were to release a defective product then they can be sued for damages.

The new law signed by Governor Andrew Cuomo opens up the door for frivolous lawsuits against every member of the arms industry, mom and pop shops and publicly traded companies can both be targeted with lawsuits designed to burn cash and time. These lawsuits are extremely malicious and are designed to put companies under.

This legislation passed by Cuomo is gun control. This legislation is designed to reduce the number of firearms you have access to by putting companies under. This is not legislation that bans certain types of firearms, adds requirements to firearms ownership, or threatens your rights, this is legislation that aims to take out the gun industry, and by doing that they are effectively killing your access to firearms.
