While David Chipman’s nomination to head the ATF has been stifled in committee, the threat of his being confirmed is still very real as Democrats have shown no signs of backing down from this issue. This issue is cause for all eyes to be turned on to Senator Joe Manchin, his vote could be the decider in this confirmation battle and it would be catastrophic for gun owners if he were to vote alongside his fellow Democrats on this issue.
Senator Manchin has repeatedly stated that he is unsure of where his vote will go when the confirmation comes up. This being said, Manchin has for a long time been a supporter of American gun owners and theoretically should be a no vote on the confirmation, for some reason however he is undecided.
The confirmation battle of David Chipman is a clear line in the sand, Chipman is not only an enemy of the 2nd amendment and by extension the American gun owner, Chipman is ignorant of firearms and firearm legislation to a degree that makes him unfit to serve as ATF chief.
David Chipman is a gun control activist, and like many gun-control activists, he prays on the ignorance of voters to get what he wants.
There is no world where Manchin can be considered an ally to American gun owners if he votes to confirm Chipman as ATF Head. Plain and simple.
