On Wednesday evening, Representatives Jamaal Bowman (D) and Thomas Massie (R) engaged in a heated argument about gun control as they were leaving the House floor. The incident occurred just days after a shooter killed six people, including three nine-year-old children, at a private Christian school in Nashville, Tennessee. “They’re cowards! They’re all cowards! They won’t do anything to save the lives of our children at all. Cowards!” Bowman said. “Question them. Force them to respond to the question, ‘Why the hell don’t you do anything to save America’s children?’ And let them explain that all the way up until 2024. Watch the exchange below:

Bowman, who previously worked as a middle school principal, passionately urged Republican lawmakers to support firearm restrictions. As he left the votes, he spoke to reporters in a forceful tone, calling on them to question Republican lawmakers about their reluctance to pass such measures.
At one point, Massie responded to Bowman, saying, “You know, there’s never been a school shooting in a school that allows teachers to carry.”
The altercation between the two congressmen highlights the ongoing debate surrounding gun control in the United States. While Democrats have been pushing for stricter firearm regulations, Republicans have generally opposed such measures, citing Second Amendment rights.
