New Jersey Sheriff’s officer Matthew Sickler was already on desk duty from an arrest last year when he allegedly pointed gun at woman’s head and threatened to kill her according to cops. Sickler had been resigned to desk duty after a physical altercation at a hotel in Bordentown Township and those charges are still pending in court.  He is now suspended without pay after this latest domestic violence incident and Mercer County Sheriff Jack Kemler said in a statement, “The Mercer County Sheriff’s Office prides itself on holding its officers to a high standard. As sheriff, I have no tolerance for such incredibly bad and dangerous behavior by an officer. (Sickler) has violated the special trust and confidence in his role as a law enforcement officer.”

Sources tole The Trentonian, “Sickler allegedly put a gun in the woman’s mouth and threatened to kill her, her kids, and her ex-husband. He then allegedly threatened to kill himself before the victim was able to escape and call the police. There was also a reported standoff with responding police before Sickler was taken into custody.”

Sickler was arrested by Plumsted police  and charged with criminal mischief, aggravated assault with a firearm, resisting arrest and possession of a firearm for an unlawful purpose in the incident that occurred last week in New Egypt, New Jersey.

According to App:

Sickler was taken to Ocean County Jail in Toms River where he remained Monday. It was unclear whether Sickler has an attorney.

Following the latest charges, Sickler has been suspended without pay, and administrative action is pending the outcome of his court proceedings, the office said.

The most severe offense Sickler has been charged with, possession of a firearm for an unlawful purpose, carries a maximum prison term of 10 years.
