After speaking with Ukrainian President Volodymr Zelensky on Tuesday, the White House revealed President Biden has dolled out another $625 million in weapons to aid Ukraine. Biden will justify this new cash dump by citing last week’s Russian annexation of four provinces in south east Ukraine.

The United States’ total in aid sent to Ukraine since the Russian invasion has now topped 16 billion. This latest weapons package will include “four High Mobility Rocket Artillery Systems, 16 155 mm howitzers, 16 105 mm howitzers, 75,000 155mm artillery rounds, 500 precision-guided 155mm artillery rounds and 1,000 155mm rounds of Remote Anti-Armor Mine Systems, among other equipment.”

Secretary of State, Anthony Blinken, seems to wear these massive aid packages as a badge of honor, stating, “Recent developments from Russia’s sham referenda and attempted annexation to new revelations of brutality against civilians in Ukrainian territory formerly controlled by Russia only strengthens our resolve. United with our Allies and partners from 50 nations, we are delivering the arms and equipment that Ukraine’s forces are utilizing so effectively today in a successful counter-offensive to take back their lands seized illegally by Russia”. Blinken would go on, in a written statement, to boast the grand total of aid given to Ukraine since his job began, which now is close to 17.5 billion.
