A local animal shelter in California has stepped up the discrimination with new requirements for those looking to adopt animals. The Shelter Hope Pet Shop in Thousand Oaks California put out a pipping hot statement the other day and will be looking to make sure that you have the right politics before allowing you to adopt a dog from them.

Shelter Hope Pet Shop has added a question to our adoption interview:

Where do you stand on gun control?

We believe that if we can make our voices heard on how we feel we can make an impact. We do not support those who believe that the 2nd amendment gives them the right to buy assault weapons. If your beliefs are not in line with ours, we will not adopt a pet to you. Our community of Thousand Oaks became part of all the other cities in America, now scarred with the reputation of a mass killing. The shooter that killed 12 innocent humans at The Borderline Bar, came to our shop for community service hours. We believe he had scouted many locations and we were one of them. We changed our policy about volunteering after that incident, but now we feel confident to go even further than that.

It takes at least 1 hour to interview someone that wants to adopt a dog at The Shelter Hope Pet Shop. You must be 25 and you must provide us with a current driver license. If you don’t own your home, we will need to speak with your landlord and we require you agree to let us come to your home for a physical inspection. If you lie about being a NRA supporter, make no mistake, we will sue you for fraud. If you believe that it is our responsibility to protect ourselves in public places and arm ourselves with a gun–do not come to us to adopt a dog. We have a choice of who we work with.

Shelter Hope chooses to work with only like-minded humans.

We live in the only country in the world that continues to support weapons and not communities. We will continue to support our community, but if you are pro guns and believe that no background check is necessary, then do not come to us to adopt. We will grill you before you even get an appointment and visit our rescue. If we ask you “do you care about children being gunned down in our schools?” If you hesitate, because your core belief is that you believe teachers need to carry firearms, then you will not get approved to adopt from us. If you foster for us and believe in guns, please bring our dogs and/or cats back, or we will arrange to have them picked up. Shelter Hope Pet Shop in no way will continue to operate if we are even remotely part of the problem. We support teachers, children, and businesses who provide services to the public, but we’ve had enough of all the senseless killing.

Remington just settled a law suit for 73 million dollars with Sandy Hook parents, who sued them. This lawsuit settlement didn’t stop the recent mass shootings but we have hope that if we stand up for change and activate our rights we will get there.

You can read their full statement above, this is pretty telling of where things are going in America. Just like with other hot buttons and extremely partisan issues this will become a weapon to use against the “other“. The “other” of course means those with the wrong political views.

You are going to be pressed up against a wall and forced to either lie or leave when it comes to making life decisions, in this case, it is adopting a new animal but we have already seen that these efforts are moving in towards to financial sector. Many in the political elite are signing off on financial institutions punishing gun stores and those working in the firearms industry, guess you as a gun owner are not allowed to adopt dogs either.

This organization is a Fo1c3, meaning that it is a charity and not a business. This organization, by doing this, is showing that it was never really about protecting animals or helping them find a home. This action by the organization might also be against the law. According to the IRS this sort of questioning is not allowed as firearm ownership is a civil right.

Understand that American gun owners are heading towards troubled waters and there are those who would seek to punish them, even in very minor ways, for using their freedoms. This is intimidation at the most basic level, “change your mind or there will be consequences”, and although this seems small and insignificant it will only get worse as time goes on.

Someone on the fence about owning a firearm might be turned away with policies like this being allowed to stand.  This sort of this can not be allowed to stand if you want to keep your 2nd amendment rights, the greatest tool that can be used to preserve our freedoms is using them. Most people who vote go out and vote again, people who are familiar with firearms tend to care a lot more about them than those who don’t. In order to protect the 2nd amendment people need to go out and learn about firearms and their importance, that will not happen when roadblocks like this are put into play.

Shelter of Hope never need worry about me using their pet adoption services. I currently have 5 wonderful cats that I have adopted and I am providing them with a wonderful loving life. We all love each other immensely and yes I am a gun owner and have been a NRA member for 62 years since I was 7 years old. I have guns for both enjoyment and self-protection for both my human and pet family.

I find Shelter of Hope’s policies very invasive and controlling. They sound very much like mentally impaired individuals and certainly hope they never own firearms, knives, drive vehicles, fly air planes, or have access to toxic chemicals.

They will be putting animals to death because they won’t have enough adopters. They will also lose donations from this attitude. Hopefully they will go bankrupt so that another responsible outfit can move into place to take care of the animals. Just another ‘WOKE’ organization to go belly up sooner or later…..

I’d bet they still allow pet adoption by animal abusers.

Your self appointment as public conscience for moral righteousness about guns only proves you shouldn’t have a pet. Because guns and pets require responsibility , respect and above all the intelligence not to miss use or abuse either. The world does not revolve around the limited snowflake ideals and reality is simple. Nature is harsh the call the police attitude is a myth pushed by beaurocrats and political hacks. You are responsible for your actions and safety as well as you pets . Grow up.

I am a strong advocate of gun control. I think you ought to be able to hit what you are shooting at. End of conversation!!!

It’s a shame that some whack job leftist’s political viewpoint can deny a good loving home to a homeless pet in need.

We have 2 dogs from adoption and one stray that wandered in. And yes my wife and I do shoot. How dumb to make a statement like that. And deny some loving animals a good home..!!!???

So if your adopted dog gets attacked while out on a walk by a coyote or pack of stray dogs you wouldn’t want the owner to be able to protect the animal and themselves?
