I hate snakes with a passion…unless of course, it’s a snake manufactured by Colt, in which case I LOVE them!

Colt recently relaunched their line of snake guns and I couldn’t be more excited – particularly about the Colt Anaconda.

I’ve always been a BIG fan of BIG revolvers chambered in BIG calibers. What can I say, I’m from Texas where bigger is always better.

Designed by firearm engineer Paul LaViolette, Colt first introduced the Colt Anaconda in 1990 and it’s been constricting around hearts across America ever since. They stopped production in 2003, sending the demand (and price) of these steel-framed beasts through the roof.

Happily, Colt decided to appease their fans by relaunching the Anaconda (as well as the Python and Cobra) in 2021 and snake gun fanatics such as myself are ecstatic.

The Anaconda is a steel, MM framed, double-action, six-round revolver available in both 6 and 8-inch barrels, with the 6-inch weighing in at over 50 ounces.

The newly released model is only available in .44 Magnum, whereas the originals were also available in .45 Long Colt.

However, the new Anaconda is also equipped with the Python’s action system, much smoother and more reliable in the long run.

Yep, I’m a big fan of this big gun and would recommend it to anyone looking for a fun range toy, a reliable sidearm for big-game hunting, or just a cool conversation piece.

I’d also like to send a special thank you to Stan Brozana, retired Orwigsburg, Pennsylvania Police Chief, for graciously loaning me the Colt Anaconda used in our Unloaded video. Thanks Chief! Xoxo
