Shooting is a skill to be sure, and unlike other physical skills you can’t just go to the gym or make do with what you got on hand. You need a range in order to get better at using a firearm.

For decades now activists and communities have been shutting down ranges or preventing them from ever opening, indoor ranges is more urbanized areas have been effected the most. Some complaints are fair game, “too loud!” and “we want this to be a public park.” But some of the criticisms thrown at the indoor ranges are just ridiculous .

Activists in Ypsilanti, Michigan are trying to stop an indoor range from being built by claiming that it will be the cause of gun violence.

As reported in Michigan Live:

“We have so much gun violence in Ypsilanti that bringing a gun range to Ypsilanti isn’t going to solve that problem,” township resident LaResha Thornton told officials. “It’s going to add more fuel to the fire.”

“The connection between gun availability and gun violence is obvious and proven,” added the Rev. Laura Hunt, associate pastor at the Ypsilanti area’s New Beginnings Community Church, who called bringing anything promoting local firearms ownership a “mistake.”

In total, eight members of the public added their voices in opposition to the project, whose stage-one plans have already received the unanimous approval of the planning commission and township board.

These complaints are not being heard by local officials, it would appear that the old tried and true complaints of left-wing activist may have stopped working. At least they have stopped working in some parts of the country.
