An internal investigation of a Connecticut state trooper has found that the said individual did in fact violate the agency’s code of conduct when they stole from a gun store.

What was this score of the century that an officer was willing to throw away their career for? A 10 round magazine… seriously.

The officer in question went to Newington Gun Exchange to pick up a few things and ended up walking out with more than he had payed for. The officer had purchased a 12-round magazine at the store but also took at 10-round magazine with him when he left. According to the business, this magazine was worth $54.

The officer was put on leave while the agency investigated the incident. They found that he had in fact taken the magazine but it was unclear if he actually meant to steal it.

The officer took the 10-round magazine out of a display gun and loaded it into his personal firearm, a SigP365. The officer claims that he forgot he took it and thought that magazine was his.

Many find this story hard to believe because it is strange for anyone, let alone an officer, to carry their handgun with no magazine in the magwell. Even if you were to do something like this, anyone with a IQ above room temperature would remember that and be concerned if they came home and found a mag had made its way in there.

The gun store is not pressing charges against the officer but has permanently banned him from the location.
