Democrats in the State of Georgia have introduced new legislation that is the opposite of Constitutional Carry. This new measure from Georgia Democrats will punish those who carry a firearm and can not provide proof that they completed a gun safety class. Penalties for those that can not show proof that they complete a gun safety class may face a 12 month jail sentence and a $1,000 fine.

This bill was brought forward by Georgia State Senator Sally Harrell and is meant to stand in direct contrast to Constitutional Carry.

From Senator Harrell’s press release:

Some members of the General Assembly want to put more guns on our streets by removing permit requirements. I’m more interested in keeping citizens safe from gun violence and accidents. We would never allow anyone with a car to drive it in public without proper instruction. If we’re going to have more guns everywhere, gun owners should be trained on how to use and store them safely.

Constitutional Carry is extremely popular and is being debated all throughout the nation with great success for 2A advocates and conservatives. As more states adopt Connotational Carry expect there to be Democrats in those states that push measures like this. This measure isn’t likely to make it through the legislative process but these Democrats are going to be able to say that they tried to stop ‘Gun Violence’ with it and they are going to fundraise off of those claims.
