Two NYPD officers were caught in an ambush the other day, one was slain and the other is in critical condition after the shooting. Now New York Governor Kathy Hochul has come out to condemn guns for this senseless act of violence.

“Last night, a shot from an illegal gun took the life of a [NYPD] officer. When I say we’re going to do everything we can to stop the scourge of illegal guns in our state, it’s not just talk. We are tripling funding for efforts to get these guns off the streets,” read a tweet from Hochul.

This is the typical song and dance routine from anti-cop politicians when officers are slain in the line of duty, they do anything and everything to steer the conversation away from criminals and into guns. This is a despicable but effective strategy that is all too common in political arenas like New York.

The rampant crime in New York City is largely due to widespread poverty and new policy that lets violent criminals roam the streets freely. Yes, there are guns that are being shipped into the state from states across the country but national gun laws wouldn’t stop this either. There are no states that prohibit the selling of certain drugs and yet drugs still pour into the state of New York unchecked.

Gun control advocates are just that, advocates for gun control. These people are not actually concerned with the safety of Americans, they just want to make it extremely difficult and eventually impossible to get a gun. Don’t buy into any of this nonsense, Kathy Hochul is standing on the grave of a dead police officer to push a radical political agenda that won’t address the issues that caused the death of this officer.
