The armorer from the set of “Rust”, Hannah Gutierrez-Reed, is suing the ammunition manufacturer the set brought the dummy rounds from as a result of the accident that resulted in the death of Halyna Hutchins. This lawsuit has also given us a new set of details that may actually incriminate actor Alec Baldwin in the incident.

Alec Baldwin was allegedly supposed to go to a “cross draw training” with Gutierrez-Reed just days before the incident. Gutierrez-Reed alleged that Alec Baldwin simply skipped out on this training which would have shown him how to draw the gun properly in the manner required for the scene and this refusal to get the training may have been what cost Halyna Hutchins her life.

It was also revealed in the lawsuit that Gutierrez-Reed was not on set when the shooting occurred, but Gutierrez-Reed was under the impression that no firearms-related scenes were underway and was not there. It is standard practice for an armorer to be on set whenever a firearm is used in a scene, if these allegations are true then that would explain why Gutierrez-Reed was not on set at the time of the shooting.

This lawsuit alleges that there was only a 15-minute window where Gutierrez-Reed did not have custody of the firearms. Even so, no one would have died had there not been live ammunition on set and this lawsuit is alleging that the manufacturer of the dummy rounds mistakenly put live ammunition into the box of dummy rounds.

If these allegations about Baldwin’s refusal to get the cross draw training are true, this would explain why he has been so reluctant to hand over his cell phone to the police who had previously obtained a warrant for the device.

Nothing is set in stone in this case, everything coming out about the shooting right now are allegations, allegations that will have to be proven in court.
