A pair of armed robbers attempted to carjack a Lyft driver in west Philadelphia this past Monday, the easy score ended up not being so easy and now both men are being treated for gunshot wounds in Philadelphia hospital.

Two carjackers rear-ended a Lyft driver in broad daylight, when he stepped out to inspect the damage one criminal pulled a rifle and demanded that he hand over the car. The Lyft driver intelligently asked if he could get the passenger out of the car prior to handing it over, the thieves agreed and let their guard down.

As soon as the thief with the rifle stopped aiming it at the Lyft driver, the  Lyft driver drew his own firearm and shot both carjackers. After being shot the two thieves made a break for it, fortunately they did not make it too far before they realized medical assistance was necessary and they surrendered.

This was an extremely dangerous situation and the Lyft driver is lucky to have had his firearm, his passenger who was just looking for a ride is also very lucky that their driver had a firearm.

As many are aware, Lyft, Uber, and other ride sharing services do not allow their drivers to carry while on the job, this driver broke the rules and Lyft will probably fire him as a result of this incident. This will be sad because this driver is a real life hero and if anything the driver needs a hefty bonus from the company at the very least.

Despite the rules from Uber and Lyft many drivers have chosen to carry anyway, especially those working in big cities. Many ride-share drivers have felt the need to get armed as a result of the rampant crime going on in America’s biggest cities.
