Misnaming Guns

The Star Model B wielded by Samuel L. Jackson in Pulp Fiction / Screenshot from Pulp Fiction

One of the biggest sins on any set is the misnaming of guns. In almost every movie and TV show we see a character call a gun by the wrong name or they say that a gun is one caliber when it is another in reality. These are small mistakes that don’t hurt anyone, but they do show us just how little Hollywood knows about guns.

As I have commented on other similar stories… How many negative (causing harm) incidents happened on the Gunsmoke filmings? Add to that, The Big Valley, and The Ponderosa… Perhaps Wagon Train and Cheyenne….

Let’s talk Baldwin-Rust… I may be wrong here and what I read could have been wrong….

I read Baldwin used a set gun with live ammo between takes for target practice somewhere. Could that have been this gun?

I also heard the gun in question was a revolver. Now, whether single action or double action, it takes something above and beyond a semi-auto to fire a shot. Either the hammer has to be pulled back, or it takes more pressure to pull the trigger.

Regardless, Mr. Baldwin has shown he should never be within reach of a firearm the rest of his life. Whether real or not.

And, with all the money, why are there not special cartridges, magazines, and cylinders to be used that will only shoot the specific blank rounds? I mean, come on, people… Am I that much smarter than all of Hollywood and perhaps gun manufacturers? Hmmm… Maybe I am.

Maybe you ARE. Why indeed are there not speial guns used ONLY as prop guns in hollyweird? After all, all of hollyweird is ANTI-GUN!! So really, they should not have ANY programs/movies where there are ANY types of firearms in their programming!!

What about when shooting full auto where they squeeze the trigger and spray lead for upwards of one to two seconds at a time ,and doing it ten times before running out of ammo with a 30 round mag, let’s do the math at an average of about 15 rounds a second, and average trigger pulls out 1.5 seconds, let’s even round down #of trigger pulls to 5 before running out,

15per. sec. x 1.5 sec. = 20 rounds per. trigger pull x 5 trigger pulls = 100 rounds all from a 30 round mag.

And as far as the big mistake on the set of rust, yes more than just Alex

And as far as the big mistake on the set of rust, yes more than just Alex Baldwin, are guilty of improper and irresponsible handling of a firearm, but ultimately Alex Baldwin is the one who did not check if the gun was loaded before he wrongfully pointed the gun at a coworker and pulled the trigger, instead of pointing in a safe direction while practicing, in my opinion he should at the very least should be convicted of man slaughter, if he is not it shows the privilege of the rich and famous.

always enjoyed the James Bond movies where our 007 whips out his Walter ppk, and snaps off a perfect shot from a gun that is not at all easy to shoot and hit with…….

When the news of “Deadeye” Baldwin first hit the air, I thought then, “B Movie Low Budget, Production went too cheap, and someone’s dead because of it. Sad to say I’m right. Baldwin as Execitive Producer hired an Armorer, Reed, whose only qualifications appears to be, that she’s the daughter of a fairly famous Armorer. She’s had Safety issues at other films she was an assistant Armorer on, and quite frankly, she shouldn’t have been used. Saying she’s Incompetent is being nice.
Baldwin hired an Asst. Director, Hall, whose had past Safety Violations, and frankly, he shouldn’t be allowed in the same room with any gun, plastic or live.
From the sound of it, “Rust” was an accident waiting to happen. A lot of the Safety Protocols, established to prevent something like this from happening, we’re either missing all together or very lax.

Baldwin’s spent most of his career attacking the NRA, the 2nd Amendment, the firearms industry, and gun owners. Maybe he should have spent a day and taken the NRA’s Gun Safety Class, because “Ol’ Deadeye” violated all 4 of the 4 Cardinal Rules of Gun Safety.

Yep Alec, you were squeezing the Nickel until the Buffalo shat, trying to save money, you hired a couple of inept, Incompetent and dangerous people in key positions. That Buffalo done shat all right, he shat right on your head boy.
