The M1 Garand is one of the most Iconic firearms in not only American history but world history. The Garand or M1 Rifle was issued to US Troops during WWII and later the Korean war.

The Garand is a semi-automatic rifle that fires .30-06,  unlike other rifles at the time this rifle used clips as opposed to magazines. The reason the government opted for clips as opposed to magazines on this rifle was its cost. If infantrymen lost their clips it was not a big deal, a few cents worth of metal was lost, but losing a magazine could be very expensive.
