Roosevelt Elk
Roosevelt Elk are among the largest elk in North America, you can find them all over the north west part of the country and if you are willing you can hop across the border into Canada if that suits your style.
Roosevelt Elk are massive creatures that can range from 6-10 ft in length and stand around 5 ½ ft tall. The bulls weigh around 700-1,00 lbs while the cows generally weigh somewhere between 575 lbs and 625 lbs. The true giants of this species have been recorded to weigh around 1,300 lbs.
You can hunt these magnificent creatures in a variety of ways. Bow hunting is incredibly popular and has become the go too for many who are looking for a real challenge. If guns are more your thing a solid rifle is never a bad pick, in fact for older hunters this might be preferred.
