A Missouri Teen has ended up in hot water after having shot and killed an alleged thief and his would-be attacker with a bow and arrow.

The teen was walking out to a tree stand on his family’s property with his archery equipment to hunt deer. While walking to the tree stand he spotted someone trying to steal his family’s lawn tractor and wood splitter. The teen alerted his father and told him of the thief, the two then confronted the man. When the teen and his father confronted the man he reportedly charged the teen. The teen pleaded with the man to stop before he knocked an arrow and shot at him. The 40-year-old thief was struck by the arrow and died soon after.

This was a very serious situation and if the teen and his father are to be believed then this is a clear case of self-defense.

Sadly, thieves and burglars have upped the ante in recent years when it comes to how they commit crimes. This alleged thief was caught red-handed and probably had the opportunity to run away when faced with two people, instead of fleeing though it appears that he chose to attack the people who had caught him. If this thief had instead opted to back down or flee, he would probably be alive right now.

The Missouri teen in the story made the right decision. Although the police have been scarce when it comes to details it was possible that this man had a knife or some sort of sharp object and even if he did not, the kid had no way of knowing. This teen could have very well died if he didn’t do what he had done.

This self-defense story comes off the back of news that a town in Australia is trying to ban bows and arrows. For that small town, the concern was one of safety, considering that they already banned guns, more primitive arms like bows and arrows are next on the list. Fortunately for us here in the GREAT USA, we are still entitled to firearm ownership.
