Legally Armed In Detroit (LAD) is a firearms advocacy group based out of, you guessed it, Detroit. LAD is hoping to give as many as 4,000 women in the city free firearms training and shooting lessons.

Detroit is not known for being a bastion of the Second Amendment, in fact, is generally considered a gun control paradise. The city is not what it once was decades ago, it is extremely dangerous to walk the streets alone at night and the fact that many can not arm themselves for the purpose of self-defense amplifies this issue.

Women in the city have an especially hard time keeping themselves safe, this is why they need to take action to secure their own safety. The free firearms training from LAD is a great way for these women to enter the world of firearms and self-defense.

The founder of LAD, Rick Ector, is hoping that 4,000 women will be given lessons this year. The training sessions provided by LAD include a safety briefing, range time, and ammunition. According to Ector, no prior firearms experience is needed to take these lessons.

Legally Armed in Detroit has been offering these free lessons for almost a decade and when they first started they only had 50 people take the classes, last year 1,900 women signed up, and this year they hope to have even more.
