Federal Ammunition is one of America’s largest Ammunition manufactures and they recently secured a 3-year-contract with the Defense Ordnance Technology Consortium to develop new types of Ammunition for the federal government.

The DOTC, stood up in 2002 under the administration of President George W. Bush to rapidly transition new armaments technology to America’s Warfighters as fast as possible, has been at the forefront of the development and prototyping of advanced concept warheads, energetics, fuzes, and other ordnance items. Federal says they will collaborate with DOTC on programs to improve small-caliber ammunition performance through advanced research and development.
“This is a tremendous honor,” said Jason Vanderbrink, President of Federal Ammunition. “When called upon, Federal wants to provide our industry-leading expertise to work alongside our military partners to build only the best ammunition for our servicemen and women whose lives depend on only the best ammunition while defending Americans and our way of life.”
David Leis, Federal’s VP of Government Sales, says the company will work with DOTC, “By supporting combat operations with precision products designed for long-range fire on select targets,” with the objective to, “increase a soldier’s lethality and survivability with advanced ammunition capabilities.”
Will this affect ammo prices and ammo scarcity? Not really, Americans will still have a hard time finding their preferred cartridge at a reasonable price and even if Federal did not secure this contract this would still be the case.
