Most politicians are arrogant enough to discuss and debate ideas they know almost nothing about, but rarely are they caught up like California legislator David Chiu was this past week.

David Chiu (D-San Francisco) represents himself as one of the state’s top gun control advocates but like many gun grabbers he knows virtually nothing about firearms, in fact, it is possible that he actually believes the nonsense that he is attempting to sell to the people of California.

The story starts with a simple tweet from David Chiu, take a look at what he posted to his social media and see if you can spot what’s wrong:

For those unaware or new to firearms, the trash that Chiu picked up is a blister pack for an airsoft gun. Chiu seemed to be under the impression that this was the packaging of a real firearm, that or he really believes the people of California are dimwitted enough to buy this.

Real firearms are not sold in blister packs you get to hold them and gun stores might give you a gun case with purchase. Besides, you want to get a good feel for any firearm you are looking to buy, a blister pack would make that pretty difficult.

The tweet was deleted soon after Twitter users began mocking the California assemblymen for ill-informed.
