There are two bills in Texas that are being pushed by gun control advocates that threaten to take the edge out of Constitutional Carry.

Texas Governor Greg Abbott has pledged to sign Constitutional Carry when it makes its way to his desk and while many members of the gun community are thrilled by this pledge, there are gun grabbers who are livid. These gun grabbers in the state of Texas are now looking to push two separate bills that threaten to take the edge out of Constitutional Carry.

Senate Bill 162, from State Sen. César Blanco (D-El Paso), claims to stop those who are not allowed to own guns from making repeated attempts to buy them again. This measure will make it illegal to receive a firearm if you are someone who is ineligible for firearm ownership a gun and would make lying on a background check a felony. This bill passed with some bipartisan support and law enforcement says that it will ensure that criminals are kept off the street.

Senate Bill 2247, from State Sen. Joan Huffman (D-Houston), is a piece of legislation that is attempting to lower the fee for obtaining a license to $0. This would encourage licensing and promote gun safety according to its proponents. Proponents are hoping that making the license free it will encourage them to get the license anyway despite the state potentially removing the requirement. The license requires that you take a safety class which many are unopposed to, long ago however you were educated on gun safety in school.

While neither of these bills is a death blow to Constitutional Carry, these two bills are aimed at taking the edge out of Constitutional Carry and are trying to push citizens of the state to not participate in the effects of this legislation. The biggest appeal of Constitutional Carry is that citizens can carry with no intervention from the government, both these bills, one more so than the other, threaten to challenge that.
