YouTube Star and 2A advocate Kentucky Ballistics aka Scott was severely injured following an accident at the range.
Kentucky Ballistics was at the range filming another video shooting his Serbu .50 Cal when an overcharged military surplus SLAP round caused the gun to explode sending shrapnel and the locking cap towards Scott. The cap sheered the threads off the gun, according to Serbu this would have required 85,000 PSI of pressure, and then flew directly into Scott’s face. This initial impact broke his orbital bone in several places, broke his nose, and caused him to go blind temporarily.
The cap also sheered two ears off the lower, one of which flew by Scott’s head and carried his hat several feet behind him while the other one went directly through his neck. The ear that went through his neck lacerated his jugular vein and punctured his lung. The Serbu’s stock is believed to have flew downward and broken Scott’s hand.
Due to some quick thinking, prior medical training, and Scott’s dad(who operates the camera in his videos), Scott was able to make it out of this freak accident alive.
Scott’s father quickly plugged the whole in Scott’s neck with his thumb and instructed him to do so. The two jumped in their truck nearby and began going towards the hospital.
