Republican’s In Arizona have put forward a bill that would make Gun stores ‘Essential’ so they can stay open during emergency’s.

The legislation would label gun stores as ‘Essential’ meaning that during emergency circumstances when most business would have to close, these stores could remain open and operate unimpeded.

The Covid-19 lockdown forced many gun stores to shut down as they were not deemed essential but if this legislation were to pass then gun stores in Arizona would be allowed to open in future emergencies. This would in turn open the doors for other states to pass similar legislation and give gun stores more room to operate.

From Fox 10:

Republicans sent the measure to the House in a 16-14 party-line vote on March 3.

Republican Sen. Wendy Rogers says the right to keep and bear arms must be protected, especially during emergencies.

Democratic Sen. Martin Quezada says the Legislature has much bigger priorities during the pandemic, such as ensuring people get access to unemployment insurance and don’t lose their homes.

While this legislation has not passed just yet things are looking optimistic and it is very likely that guns stores will get a fair shake when all is said and done.
